Appalachian State University

This last Monday my family and I visited Appalachian State University.

Since most of the buildings were not opened...

we just walked around and got a feel for the campus.

While Isaac played with some of the statues...

Nate was surprised and excited to see some snow,

since we haven't had any where we live.

I really enjoyed getting to see the campus...

(it is definitely on my list of possible colleges).

I also found out on the 25th that I have been accepted to Appalacian. =]

Quilting

After 3 1/4 months...

I finally finished my quilt for my Graduation Project.

I started out with this picture...

I didn't find an exact pattern for it so I just made it up as I went...

and ended up with this:

It's hand quilted...

the border has stripes...

and it has a ton of triangles in it.

I guess I really did know what I was getting myself into with those three things..

but it turned out better then I could have imagined.

Also... a thank you to Lynn Easler, my mentor, and Debbie Beaver for helping me with this.

It was so fun to work with them!

Now all I have to do is present my project tomorrow and I will be completely done.

Yay!

Happy New Year!

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year!

I hope that everyone has had a good 2012...

and has an even better 2013.

I just realized out of 365 days...

I only posted 31 times.

So, I'm going to make it a goal to post more often this year.

(Starting with this post)

Have a nice night!

Gingerbread House

A couple weeks ago my family and I bought a kit...

A kit to make a gingerbread house AND train.

Of course, Nate was pretty thrilled with the train idea.

(Or was it the candy? Hmm...)

Even though the instrustions seemed like they came from Ikea...

and it never got to that "just like the picture on the box" level...

it was still pretty fun to make with mom and Nate.

After we were done decorating...

Nate was being a perfect little angle next to the house when...

Nom!

He kept acting like he was going to take a big bite out of  both the house and the train.

And even though there was no hole in the side of the house...

notice the missing candies on the roof?

Hmm... suspicious.

Kiko

This is Kiko, the new baby giraffe at the Greenville zoo.

He's about 7 feet tall...

And looks just like his dad, Walter..

And his mom, Autumn

Walter and Autumn seem to really enjoy Kiko.

And Walter and Autumn seem to like each other too.

Seems like a sweet little family...

Congrats to Autumn, Walter and the Greenville Zoo.

Happy Halloween!

Wow, it has already been about a month since I last posted.

Time seems to really fly.

Just thought I would stop by and say "Happy Halloween!"

Unfortunatly, there are no costume pictures this year...

there seems to be a cold going around.

Here's some jack-o-lanterns though!

The kitty is mine and the "creepy face" is Nate's.

(Of course, Nate only did the design, not the cutting!)

Hope everyone has had a fun night!

Apples

It's already starting to feel like fall...

and when I think of fall I also think of apples.

A couple Saturdays ago (I meant to update then) my family and I went Apple picking.

The following are some pictures from the little trip.

My two little brothers. haha

Nate wanted to try to pull me in the wagon. It didn't work out so well.

Nate sees and sits on a pumpkin.

Nate explains why he wants the "pumpkin pumpkin."
Nate riding with him new pumpkin friend in the wagon. haha

Apples.
